How to hide your home address on Google Business Profile
Lots of local businesses run from home: cleaners, contractors, mobile mechanics, groomers, tutors. If customers don't come to your house, Google expects you to hide the address and show a service area instead. It protects your privacy and follows the rules.
Which setup fits your business?
Storefront: customers visit your address during business hours, and it's staffed. Show the address.
Service-area business: you go to customers and they don't come to you. Hide the address and add a service area.
Hybrid: customers visit your staffed location and you travel to them. You can show the address and add a service area.

How to set it up
- Open your Business Profile editor (search your business name on Google while signed in, or use the Business Profile manager).
- In the location settings, turn off showing your business address to customers. Google may still ask for the address privately for verification.
- Add your service area: the cities, ZIP codes or regions you actually serve.
- Save, then check how the profile looks to customers.
Google moves these settings around from time to time. If a step doesn't match what you see, follow Google: Manage your service area.
Rules worth knowing
- About 2 hours of driving: Google says the overall service area shouldn't extend farther than about 2 hours' drive from where your business is based.
- Don't list towns you don't serve. It confuses customers and doesn't match the guidelines.
- One profile per business, not one per town. Creating extra profiles for nearby cities isn't allowed.
- No PO boxes or virtual offices as an address.
- Keep the business name real: don't add city names or keywords to it.

FAQ
Will hiding my address remove my business from Google Maps?
No. Service-area businesses can still appear on Google; the profile shows the area you serve instead of a street address.
Should I hide my address if customers sometimes pick things up at my home?
Google's guidance is about whether you serve customers at your address. If you do, and it's staffed during your hours, showing it can be right. If customers don't come to you, hide it. Check Google's current help page for your situation.
How large can my service area be?
Google's service-area help says the overall area shouldn't extend farther than about 2 hours of driving from where your business is based. Only list areas you really serve.
Can I use a PO box or virtual office as my address?
No. Google's guidelines don't allow PO boxes or mailboxes at remote locations as a business address.
